Apartheid?

Before one falsely accuses Israel as being an apartheid state, it is important to remember that it is the only state in the Middle East with full rights for women, the LGBT community, and minorities - including Arabs and Druze. The pictures below are worth a thousand words.

Made In Israel

This is a really interesting video about the technological advancements that Israel is making and how it is affecting our daily lives without even knowing.

As Jonathan Medved mentions in the video, "The key challenge for Israel companies is to go from start up nation to scale up nation."

I'm sure that we all can't wait to see what Israeli innovators will come up with next. Kol Ha'kavod!

The Past Year in Review

Wow, I can't believe that it's been a year since I last contributed to this blog. The past twelve months have been filled with ups and downs and with achievements as well as stresses. Looking back on it, I don't hold any regrets. I know that the year to come will be a significant one in many ways.

Next week I will be presenting at the Association of Israel Studies Conference at the University of California, Los Angeles. I was invited to present my Major Research Project that I wrote for my Master of Arts program at McMaster University. The paper explored the role of emotions within the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and how they are manifested as well as how they impact a potential peace process. It is an exciting time that will hopefully lead to greater opportunities.

On a more global level, the recent elections in Iran of a moderate Presidential candidate has created some hope for positive change in the Middle East. The coming year will surely be an optimistic one.

Visit Israel Without Leaving Your Home

Recently, Israel joined Google Street View. Viewers can now see famous historical sites in cities such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa. The hope is that such an advancement will boost tourism in Israel, once people see how much the country really has to offer.

One military intelligence expert shares his concern that terrorists can gain valuable information in order to attack Israeli civilians. Certain areas such as the Prime Minister`s house and check points are blurred, although that still does not reassure everyday citizens who are worried that their houses can be viewed from a computer screen from anywhere in the world.

Happy Birthday, Israel!

On Thursday, Israel will be celebrating its 64th birthday. There are so many contributions that Israel has brought to the world in such a short period of time. We wish the state of Israel the strength and resilience that it needs to further prosper in the Middle East for many years to come!

Am Israel Chai!
